The chapters on linear algebra are quite good as are the sections on approximation. The field of optimization is further split in several subfields, depending on the form of the objective function and the constraint. But make no mistake. Such a help, although incomplete. I doubt you'll be looking into any of these books unless you need a reference material for a course or something, but there wasn't significant differences between this version and the next one.
They require you to pretty much read all the preceding text to understand it, and who has time for that? Examples are great, particularly in an introductory level text, but when you simply follow examples, what are you truly learning? This can be done by a finite element methoda finite difference method, or particularly in engineering a finite volume method.
This manual did help, but not as much as I expected. Many types of numerical analysis procedures are used in atmospheric modeling, including computational fluid mechanics and the numerical solution of differential equations.

Under what circumstances may the process stop with a large error in x? I only made it a few chapters into this book so I cannot speak to how the volume as a whole is, but I will say that from what I saw there were too few examples to illuminate difficult concepts and the examples used didn't help shed any additional light on topics being covered.
Oh, sure, some problems demand the student verify that conditions are met for an algorithm to be used, but this isn't really analysis so much as it is validation. Rational polynomial interpolation should be included as a topic.
And I think it is intended for undergraduates, not graduates. I would probably seek another reference if given an opportunity, but that means I would have to read a lot of dry books to get there. Even though the book has an initial chapter "mathematical preliminaries"reading this chapter is not enough if the student has not a good previous mathematical knowledge. Yeah I like advanced math like the next guy but I think they should spend more time and paper space on algorithms and code definitions as their algorithms are spotty.
A wealth of examples and exercises develop students' intuition, and demonstrate the subject's practical applications to important everyday problems in math, computing, engineering, and physical science disciplines.
And speaking of examples, that leads to another problem that this text seems to have. I have certainly not read all parts of the book, but find those parts I have read a nice mathematically inclined description of the central conepts and methods of numerical analysis.
